5.Lightened Despair..
He reached his apartment in about 30
minutes, it was 1.00 a.m. He ate his dinner, which he prepared before leaving
for work, and switched his alarm to 6 a.m. After changing he went to sleep.
Today he was remembering his mother, his warm hand over his head, her
affectionate stroking over his head, he slept shedding a tear.
Wali Suhaib khan was a laborer and a
part time bar tender in Toronto, since the last three years. He was 27 years
old, a bachelor's in Business administration from the New Delhi University. He
came to Canada three years back, the day he completed his degree. And till now,
he was working almost 20 hours a day. He couldn't even go his mother's
funeral, not to his sister's wedding. He was stuck here and that too just for
MONEY!. He had to pay debts, and that was not possible living in India. Every
night, in spite of jerking away the thought, he recalled the way he reached
Canada, with an illegal passport, he remembered the constant tinge of fear in
that 14 hour flight, he remembered the cross questioning of the immigration
officers, he remembered each and every risk he had taken in his life.
Holding a bachelor's degree was of no
use to him because he worked as an illiterate person. He was quiet and reserved
since childhood, the one who never questioned, that is the reason he stepped
forward to give all the sacrifices. He was the eldest son, so he had to take
the responsibilities of all the blunders made by his father. It was not that he
was a very good at heart, sacrificial sort of a person, he was just fed up of
all the tensions and problems of his house. There had to be a solution and he
decided to dig that solution. If he had started looking for a job and then
started paying debts of his father, then it would probably had taken his whole
lifetime, and he could not bear people coming to his house, asking for money
for his whole life, so he decided to cut the crap and work until he had given
each and every penny of people who came to his house. People, whom his mother
had to face, people in front of whom his mother had to carve false
excuses.
"Wali tu kia
bol", his mother couldn't believe the words of his son, "tu
Canada ja raha hai?"
"haan maa,
mera visa a gaya hai,", his voice was stiff and
expressionless, and it cut his mother like a blade, "ku lekin?,
zarorat kia hai?
"maa bauji ne
adhe gaon k paise dene hain, kia sari zindagi ye log hamare ghr k chakr lagate
rahen gey?," he was throwing his clothes into the bag, emptying his cupboard.
His mother had no answer to it,
"bhiaya maa
kaam kar tu rahi hai, aur ab tu tumhari nuakri bhi lag jay egi, tu pasie wapis
kar den gey hum", his younger sister , zarminey came in, she herself was shocked
at his decision,
"yahan naukri
kar k paise wapis karon ga tu sari zindagi lag jaye gi",he had now emptied
the cupboard and he headed towards his study table and picked up pile of his
books, his mother knew that he would not listen to anyone.
Later at night when
he was lying down, awaiting sleep, he felt the warm touch of his mother
stroking his hair, "maa se naraz ho k ja rahe ho?", he
opened his eyes to see the worried face of his mother,
"maa tum kia
kiya hai jo tum se naraaz ho k jaon", he closed his
eyes, shifting his head from his pillow to his mother's lap , she kept in
stroking his hair, "itni jaldbazi mat karo Wali, pardes bht buri
chez hai, sari zindagi hi sahi, per kam as kam tum apne logon k pass tu ho gey
na, wahan Akeley"
"maa main tang
a gaya hon bahne banate banate, mujhe azaadi ki zindagi chaiye, jahan mujhe ghr
se bahir niklatey waqt ye nahi sochna pare k koi paise lene wala mil gaya tu
kia jawab don ga"
"yahan thori
koshish tu karo, shiyed koi karobar."
"bauji ne bhi
yahi koshih ki thi na, kia hua?, sirf qarz ka bhoj reh gaya hai..aur maa in sab
batoon ka koi faida nai hai ab, ab mujhe jana hi pare ga, main ne visa k liye
bhi udhar liya hai, jo main ne 6 mahine main wapis karne ka wada kiya hai, ab
mujhe jana hi pare ga", his voice was stiff as a rock,
he never had any emotions in them, but his mother wasn't able to accept that his
only on would be leaving her.
He was preparing
his things for the final departure, when again his mother asked,
"acha wapis
kab tak aao gey?"
"jab sara qarz
utar don ga",
"aur agr tab
tak main marr gayi tu?
He opened his eyes with a shock, it
was 6.am, his alarm was snoozing continuously, he left the bed and started
getting ready for work.
Farah's alarm was ringing, but her
body was refusing to respond to the signals its mind was giving, but finally
her body surrendered. She opened her eyes. Today after a whole weak she was
going to office. She was feeling nervous. Her boss would question so much. Her
whole office knew about her drinking habit, so she was feeling embarrassed, she
would have to face them, their taunting and mocking eyes. Drinking was normal
in this culture, but farah was taunted on being an Asian and then drink so
much, She was taunted when she spoke about her values, because then she was
mocked about her drinking.
But again she knew all of this was
only because of her, she could stop all this by her will power, by quitting
drinks, but again her mind always went weak. She had nobody for whom she would
remain in her senses. It was because of shehna, she managed to stay away from
drinks for some while, but she never got any inspiration and love and affection
that she would leave them forever.
She didn't leave them because
she didn't want to.
Both of them were getting ready for
work, and thinking about the complications they had in their lives, unaware
that these will bring them close ... because these were the MAGICAL
COMPLICATIONS.
Muhabbat neela
mausam ban k a jaye gi ik din..
